Under her watch Wellington Hospital had one of the best disciplined nursing staff in the country and many of them went on to lead distinguished careers.

The Frances Keith Payne medal was established after her death to be awarded to the Wellington Hospital nurse who gained highest marks in the Hospital Final exams each year.
