Target audience

This course is aimed at SHOs or Registrars with a minimum of 3 months anaesthesia experience, who have recently progressed beyond level 1 supervision and are about to participate in a call roster with level 4 (out of hospital) supervision

Course information

This 2-day practical workshop is aimed at improving crisis management skills for junior registrars.

The course will cover some common and/or life-threatening anaesthesia-related emergencies such as

  • failed intubation
  • anaphylaxis
  • high airway pressures
  • obstetric emergencies
  • PACU and ED presentations

Principles of effective team work and communication will also be covered.

The workshop is mainly hands-on skills training and simulated scenarios (with debriefing and discussion after each scenario).

There will also be interactive small group discussions.
