Initial schooling in Surrey, completed in Christchurch NZ.

Developed an early interest in paediatrics.  Paediatric Registrar in Auckland Hospital.

Medical Registrar, Dunedin Hospital

Postgraduate training at Hammersmith Hospital where she was paediatric registrar 1965-1967

Appointed Lecturer in Paediatrics, Otago University and Paediatrician, Dunedin Hospital in 1967

There she pioneered the development of neonatal intensive care.

Moved to Wellington in 1982 as a specialist in Developmental Paediatrics, based at Puketiro.

One of her major achievements was, in conjunction with Dr Phil Silva, to set up the Dunedin Multidiscplinary Health and Development Study.
