Dr Parry is an internationally renowned neurologist who has published more than 140 peer-reviewed articles as well as numerous book chapters.  He is Emeritus Professor and former Head of Neurology at the University of Minnesota, Senior Lecturer at Otago University Medical School and has been a Visiting Consultant Neurologist at the Wellington Hospital since 2006. He was awarded the 2018 Fulbright-Nehru Senior Scholarship serving at St John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India.  He has a career-long interest in neuromuscular diseases, particularly Guillain-Barre syndrome and related diseases, and has written 2 books on the subject, one for physicians and one for patients and caregivers. He has served on the Medical Advisory Board (MAB) of the GBS/CIDP Foundation International for more than 20 years and founded the MAB of the GBS Support Group Trust, NZ, in 2002.  In 2009, he was awarded the NZ Order of Merit for services to neurology.
