What we do

The Gastroenterology department offers clinics and procedures to assess and treat problems of the digestive system, liver, gallbladder and pancreas.

We provide a wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures for the wider Wellington Region including, Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Capsule Endoscopy.  Clinic consultations are offered for inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease and nutrition.  Nurse led clinics for IBD patients are also available.

Bowel Screening will be offered by the department beginning in 2021. More information about this can be found here.

Referrals

Your GP or another specialist must refer you to our service.

If you think you need to be referred please speak to your GP.

One of our doctors will assess your referral and you will be notified whether your referral has been accepted. If accepted, your referral will be prioritised depending on the problem and its severity.  Sometimes we will not be able to see you as we do not have the capacity to see all the patients we are referred.

Our Team

We are a multicultural team of Doctors (Gastroenterologists and Colorectal surgeons), Nurses, Specialist Nurses, and Administrative Staff.
