This PI seminar will support the education and training for health care professionals from hospital, community and aged residential care from the CCDHB region. Together with nursing and allied health professionals you will learn about the challenges in caring for vulnerable ‘at risk’ patients for developing pressure injuries while in our care. Let’s talk about the difficulties and find solutions.

Content

  • a case study approach will be integral to the days programme to support the taking knowledge and new skills into practice
  • understanding skin physiology and the aetiology of pressure injuries
  • understanding how to holistically recognise a vulnerable patient is at risk of harm
  • identifying risk factors for PI development and moisture lesions to improve clinical identification and optimal management based on understanding the difference between both skin injuries
  • using tools effectively to classify and document PI stages accurately and consistently
  • gaining access to tools and practice change ideas to improve individualised care planning based on keeping people safe with consideration of system level approaches to support evidence informed practice
  • best evidence to develop interventions to improve PI prevention and management
