From Monday 19 February, the main car park next to Wellington Regional Hospital will be closing so that demolition work for the new children’s hospital site can progress.

As a result, there will be changes to patient and visitor parking.

These upcoming changes will help ensure we can maintain parking capacity for patients and visitors – albeit in a different location.

The following changes for patient and visitor parking will take effect from Monday 19 February and are outlined in the attached map (click here to download the map as a PDF):

  • The main car park on the site of the new children’s hospital will be closed.
  • A valet parking service for patients and visitors in the underground car park will be available. This service provides 70 car parks for patients and visitors. Parking costs will remain the same.
  • Additional parking is available for patients and visitors on Mein Street. These areas will be clearly marked.
  • Patients and visitors to the eye clinic and the children’s hospital can also park in parts of the C zone parking at the top of Hospital Road behind the Grace Neill Block. These areas will be clearly marked.
We know changes to car parking is an inconvenience for patients and visitors, and we are working hard to minimise the impact.
