To be eligible for hearing aids assessments and fittings through CCDHB, adults must be 16 years of age or older, and NOT qualify for funding for hearing aids through ACC or Veteran's Affairs.
Eligible adults are charged for their hearing aids at cost price (wholesale) plus 5%.
All NZ residents are eligible for a government hearing aid subsidy of $511.11 for one or $1022.22 for two hearing aids.
They must also meet one of the following sets of criteria:
A. Have a documented moderately-severe or greater hearing loss in the better hearing ear of 56dBHL or greater (three frequency pure tone average 500Hz - 4kHz) and hold a current community services card.
B. Meet one of the following specific Ministry of Health Hearing Aid Funding Scheme eligibility criteria of:
- Dual or Multiple Disabilities
- Moderately-Severe Hearing Loss since Childhood
