Next line of Kia Ora Hauora Champions to gain work experience at our hospitals

Nau mai, Haere mai to three Māori tertiary students and one graduated Pacific high school student who are taking their next step into the health and community sector on Kia Ora Hauora’s Champions Programme.

This initiative sees mainly tertiary students who have previously attended Mahi Exposure Day, Work Observation Day and/or Rangatahi ki Te Ao (Work Observation Week), returning to the Te Whatu Ora environment during university holidays. This keeps the connection between rangatahi and our organisations alive.

Over the next three weeks, these Champions will be gaining work experience with teams across Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley to help prepare them for joining the workforce.

Our KOH CR Champions are:

  • A first year Bachelor of Nursing student at Whitireia (interested in becoming a Rangatahi Support Worker, Mental Health Nurse, Nurse)
  • Second year Midwifery student at Victoria University
  • First year Psychology student at Victoria University (interested in becoming a Psychologist, Social Worker, Community Health Worker)
  • A graduated high school student looking to pursue their health career at Victoria or Otago University

Ka pai! We wish them well!
