All visitors and support people entering our hospitals to either scan the QR code via the COVID-19 tracer app or complete the sign-in sheet at our entrances.

From Wednesday 8 September, Hutt Valley and Capital & Coast DHBs will expect all visitors and support people – including children aged 12 and over – entering our hospitals to either scan the QR code via the COVID-19 tracer app or complete the sign-in sheet at our entrances.

QR scanning and contact records are mandatory for our DHBs under the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Alert Level Requirements) Order (No 10) 2021.

Patients coming in for appointments do not need to do this as we will have record of their appointment. Those who present without an appointment – for example presenting to ED – also do not have to scan or sign in because we will have a record of the time they have been in hospital.

Anyone who accompanies the patient or visits them will be expected to scan or sign in so we have a record of their presence.

Contractors, locums, and staff with special status are also encouraged to sign in so we have a record of their time onsite as an extra precaution that other records of their visit may not have been kept.

These requirements will help ensure that we are able to prevent COVID-19 from entering our hospitals and will help us keep patients, visitors, support people, and staff safe.
