On Thursday 12 December, Capital & Coast DHB will take part in a multi-agency mass casualty exercise at Wellington Regional Hospital.

The exercise will include participation from Capital & Coast DHB, Wellington Free Ambulance, NZ Police, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, and others.

This exercise is designed to test the agencies’ planning and processes to ensure we are properly prepared for an emergency that results in a high number of injuries.

During the exercise, people may notice a higher level of activity in and around the hospital – including more ambulances, people in high-visibility clothing, and more ‘patients’ being brought into the hospital.

Please remember that this is a routine exercise only, and all services are working as normal. Anyone who needs hospital level care will receive it, and people should attend their scheduled appointments as usual.

The exercise should be completed by around midday.
