Capital & Coast DHB Board Chair Andrew Blair and Teresa Wall, Chair of the Māori Partnership Board, say their thoughts are with June Jackson's whānau on the sad news of her passing.

Tēna rā tātou katoa,

Ka tangi, ka tangi. E heke ngā tini roimata i te karere nei. Kua hinga a tātou kuia tuarongo ā June Jackson. E te taonga, haere atu rā ki tua o te ārai, moe mai rā, e okioki. Ki te whānau pani ā Peter mā, he mihi aroha ki ā koutou i tēnei wā pouri, ka aroha.
It was with great sadness that we were informed of the passing of our kuia, June Jackson – also known as ‘aunty June’ - who passed away in the early hours of 26 July.

June has been the kuia for Capital & Coast DHB for the past 15 years and worked tirelessly alongside her husband Sam and more recently her son Peter, to provide CCDHB with tikanga/cultural expertise and support.

CCDHB Board Chair Andrew Blair and Teresa Wall, Chair of the Māori Partnership Board said their thoughts are with the whānau at this very sad time.

“My thoughts are with June’s whanau, particularly Peter who is a valued member of the Māori Partnership Board on hearing of her passing, said Teresa Wall. "I pay tribute to June for her contribution to Capital & Coast DHB as kuia for the organisation and know that she will be missed.”

"No reira, e kui, kua mimiti te puna o te aroha, kua wahangu tou reo otira e kore koe e wareware."

Mr Blair said he was very sad to hear of June’s passing. “She has added so much to our organisation by welcoming and supporting a range of our staff and visitors and making everyone feel part of the CCDHB family.”

New CCDHB Chief Executive Fionnagh Dougan, who was accompanied by June at welcome events including a mihi whakatau earlier this month, said her presence was hugely supportive. “I was very aware that I was being supported by somebody quite extraordinary during this time. In short I was privileged to have her as part of my journey.”

Aunty June also worked with a number of other Wellington city leaders including Wellington Mayor Justin Lester and Deputy Mayor Jill Day who have paid tribute to her.

An online tribute book has been set-up and messages can be sent to ‘the Jackson family’ c/- PO Box 14-366 Kilbirnie, Wellington 6241.

Aunty June will be taken to Pipitea Marae, Thorndon Quay, Wellington on Tuesday afternoon and a service will be held on Thursday at 11:00am at the Marae.
