The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) has advised that its members have voted to reject the revised offer from DHBs.

This means nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants who are members of the NZNO will likely proceed with nationwide strike action on Thursday 12 July. The strike action will be in the form of a complete withdrawal of labour, from all DHBs around the country, for 24 hours from 7am on 12 July.

Patient safety and wellbeing remains our highest priority and focus during this time. The emergency department (ED) at Wellington Regional Hospital will remain open throughout the strike. People are asked to remember that the ED is for emergencies only.

Anyone unsure about whether they need ED care should contact their GP or call Healthline (0800 611 116) for free advice from a registered nurse.
