Andrew Blair, Board Chair of Capital & Coast and Hutt Valley DHBs, has today announced the appointment of Dr Ashley Bloomfield as the Acting Chief Executive (CE) for Capital & Coast DHB.

Hutt Valley DHB CE Dr Bloomfield (pictured) will take on the role from 1 January 2018 while the final stages of recruitment for the permanent position are completed. The current CE Debbie Chin is leaving the role on the 31 December.

“Recruitment is well advanced for the CE role, but it was important to the Board that we had an interim measure in place while we complete this process,” said Andrew Blair.

“Capital & Coast DHB has a number of significant work streams underway, including the build of a new Children’s Hospital, and we want to maintain momentum on these.

“Dr Bloomfield is already very familiar with the work programme at Capital & Coast DHB – and the leadership team and staff at the organisation. His secondment will provide consistency but is also an opportunity to strengthen the collaboration and relationships across the Wellington region.

“Dr Bloomfield did not apply for the role of Chief Executive at Capital & Coast DHB and will return to his role at Hutt Valley DHB at the end of the secondment.”

Dr Bloomfield said he is looking forward to the opportunity to work with the Capital & Coast DHB Board and staff.

“I will be fully focussed on Capital & Coast DHB while acting in this role and see it as a great opportunity to build on the existing good relationships and areas of joint work between the DHBs.”

Hutt Valley DHB’s current Chief Operating Officer Dale Oliff will step into the role of Chief Executive at Hutt Valley DHB while Dr Bloomfield is at Capital & Coast DHB.
