ALERT (Acute Life Threatening Events Recognition and Treatment)

Course details

This is a full-day multidisciplinary course focusing on the early recognition and management of the acutely ill or deteriorating patient. It is facilitated by a resuscitation educator and delivered by ALERT instructors.

Audience

This course is a multidisciplinary course aimed at nurses, doctors and other staff e.g., physiotherapists and paramedics delivering care and treatment to the acutely ill or deteriorating patient.

Learning objectives

On completion of this course, participants will be able to recognise the 'at risk' patient by demonstrating skills and knowledge in

  • identifying early-stage organ impairment
  • initiating simple treatment measures to prevent further failure
  • communicating concerns and actions to facilitate further care
