Known as 'Dick' to his NZ colleagues

Postgraduate training in England 1956 - 1958. Short-term appointments at a number of London Hospitals, including a spell as Registrar, Hammersmith Hospital.

On his return to NZ, brought back skills in epidural anaesthesia, and pioneered its use in obstetrics.

Director of Anaesthesia, Royal Hospital for Women, Paddington, Sydney 1963 - 1984

Visiting Anaesthetist at various Auckland Hospitals, mainly North Shore Hospital, 1984 - 1990
