Malcolm was house surgeon at Hawkes Bay Hospital before moving to Greenlane Hospital, Auckland for cardiology training.
Having completed advanced training in cardiology at Green Lane, he was awarded a National Heart Foundation Fellowship which enabled training in interventional cardiology in Philadelphia, USA.

Malcolm returned to NZ in 1992, to join the private cardiology / cardiac surgery group at Wakefield Hospital.
He has extensive experience in diagnostic coronary angiography and coronary interventional techniques.
Interests also include echocardiography (stress and transoesophageal echo) and the management of valvular heart disease.

Malcolm is based at Wakefield Hospital but has also conducted one OP clinic/week at Wellington Hospital since 2007.   He also participates in the coronary intervention on-call roster at Wellington Hospital.
