Born in Wellington and educated at Wellington College, Anil graduated from Otago Medical School in 1998.
House surgeon and registrar years at Wellington Hospital followed and in 2004 he commenced advanced training in cardiology in Wellington.

He travelled to the American Heart Institute in Missouri to do an interventional cardiology fellowship 2010-2011.
In 2011-2012 he did a second interventional cardiology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, in Durham USA.

Since March 2013 Anil has been an Interventional Cardiologist at Wellington Hospital, and now also is on staff at Wakefield Hospital.
Research interests include daycase PCI and the appropriate use of oxygen during acute coronary syndromes.
