GP Access - Porirua City - Porirua Union and Community Health Service

Location: 221 Bedford St, Cannons Creek

The surgery is located on Bedford Street opposite the car-park for the Cannons Creek Shopping Mall. There is car-parking on the road or across the street in the shopping centre car-park. There is a car park for Mobility Parking Permit holders on the other side of the street. There is a long steep driveway to the rear entrance which has a wheelchair ramp. Although it is possible to stop here to drop off passengers, parking here would restrict the entrance for other users.

Access from the car-park to Reception

Wheelchair users and patients with restricted mobility can only access the surgery via the rear entry
The entrance from the top of the ramp has two doorways, well spaced, each with a small aluminium doorsill of approximately 2 cm to navigate
The doors themselves are aluminium and glass and are easily opened by a wheelchair user

Reception

There is no signage from this rear entrance directing users to reception and signage at reception is not of a style to make it easily readable by a person with a visual difficulty.
