Child Health Advisory Group

The C&C DHB Child Health Advisory Group (CHAG) was formed in response to a recommendation made by the C&C DHB Board in April 2006, and in response to national advice from the Children’s Commissioner that each DHB have a Child Health Strategy and Action plan.

CHAG is a multidisciplinary group whose members are drawn from across the DHB who have an interest in child health. Members include managers and clinical staff from the DHB’s child health services, mental health services, planning and funding, as well as Plunket, Well Child providers, PHOs, Iwi organisations, and Regional Public Health .

CHAG’s role is to provide advice to C&CDHB on child health issues, and to advocate for child health issues and improvement.

CHAG is responsible for:

  • supporting the development of a child health strategic plan and action plans
  • providing expert advice on child health issues / identifying areas of priority for child health within C&C DHB
  • guiding and monitoring the implementation of this plan
  • signalling emerging health issues for children and young people through the CEO to the Board
  • supporting the C&C DHB Youth Health Advisory Group and Youth Health Action Plan
  • encouraging and supporting linkages across services for children and young people at the district, regional and national levels.

CHAG reports to the Board through the CEO. It meets every second month.
