The Journey Forward’s relationship to other plans
The development of The Journey Forward has taken place in the context of ongoing local, regional and national mental health and addictions planning and development and is consistent with the directions set out in national and regional plans.

Service User Vision

Developed by service users and published by the Mental Health Commission Our Lives in 2014 outlines a recovery vision for the development of the health and social sectors. The purpose of the vision was to guide the development of the Ministry of Health’s second national mental health plan.

Key Strategic documents include;

This is the second national mental health plan. It sets the overall direction for service development and national initiatives in mental health and addiction services.

This document identifies the next steps to progress the key challenges identified in Te Tāhuhu. It identifies specific actions, key stakeholders and organisations responsible, outlines milestones/measures and sets timeframes for achieving actions.

This document provides a national framework for the planning and delivery of services for tangata whaiora and their whānau.

Regional Mental Health and Addiction Plans

This plan is being developed by Technical Advisory Service (TAS), and the six Central region DHBs. It outlines a regional work plan which will begin to address the major challenges identified in Te Tāhuhu.
