The Design of a New Hospital
The government set aside a 10 acre site in Newtown, and engaged
C Julius Toxward, a Danish-born architect to submit detailed plans.

Toxward submitted his proposals for the new hospital to the Superintendent of the Province of Wellington on 23/4/1875. Shown here is the covering letter in his own handwriting.
