Educated in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Durham, Cambridge, Brussels and Paris

Practised in Portsmouth, then in Northumberland for 8 years before coming to NZ in 1895
Initially practised in Otaki

Examiner in Bacteriology and Pathology, University of NZ 1895 - 1900
Chief Medical Officer for NZ 1900 - 1909
Subsequently entered private consulting and pathology practice in Wellington

Called to the Bar in 1910
WW1 service.  Invalided back to NZ
