Educated at private schools and at Wellington College

MB (Lond), MD (Hons Lond) 1885, MRCS (Eng) 1883 MRCP (Lond) 1888
Trained at Guy's Hospital, London, where he was a House Surgeon.
He then travelled to Europe and to the USA for postgraduate studies, before returning to Wellington in the mid 1880s.
First registered as a medical practitioner in NZ 8/11/1884

Joined Dr M S Grace in practice.

Honorary Physician, Wellington Hospital 1888 - 1890
Honorary Surgeon, Wellington Hospital 1890 - 1906.
