Came to Wellington in 1884, and was appointed Medical Superintendent, Mount View Asylum (1884 - 1887).
In August 1885, he was given an additional appointment of Acting Medical Superintendent, Wellington Hospital, after the dismissal of Dr Chilton.  He remained in that capacity for a few months until the appointment of Dr Kenny.

Medical Superintendent, Sunnyside Mental Hospital 1887 - 1904

Elected a Fellow of the Royal Colonial Institute in 1909.  Awarded MBE in 1918
