J O Mercer was for many years Director of Pathology at Wellington Hospital.  During his time on the staff, he accumulated a large number of framed portraits of his senior colleagues, and these were hung in his office.
It has been said that when a colleague died, that colleague's photograph was moved to a more peripheral part of the office wall!

On his retirement from the Hospital "Jo" donated the collection of photographs to the Hospital archive.   Unfortunately, some of the photographs may have been 'removed', but a collection of 38 portraits remain, and are listed below.
