Educated at Wellington College and Wanganui Collegiate.  Began medical studies in Dunedin and completed these in Edinburgh.

MB CM (Edin) 1895, MD (Edin) 1898, BSc (Pub Health, Edin) 1899, FRCS, FRAS

Lecturer in Bacteriology, Sheffield University, before returning to NZ in 1901

General practice in Lower Hutt
WW1 service, followed by the establishment of consultant pathology practice in Wellington
