Born Clonmel, County Tipperary 28.02.1837 Died Wellington 19.04.1903 LRCS LRCP (Edin) 1859, MD (Univ of Jena, Germany) 1867 Studied in Dublin, Paris and London. Enlisted in the Army in 1859 as staff assistant and surgeon. In June 1860, he was sent to NZ, 3 months after the start of the Waitara war. He left the Imperial Army, joining the Colonial Forces, and became their Surgeon-General. He left the military in 1865 and set up practice as a medical practitioner in Wellington. Acting Provincial Surgeon for Wellington 1865 Wellington Coroner 1870 - 1877 He was appointed a Member of the Legislative Council in 1870. Honorary Surgeon, Wellington Hospital 1879 - 1882 Honorary Consulting Surgeon, Wellington Hospital 1883 - 1886. President, Wellington Branch BMA 1890.
