Initially trained and worked as a pharmacist.  When nearly 30yrs of age, he commenced his medical studies at Guy's Hospital in London

Returned to Wellington in 1907, for a time practising with Dr H C Faulke

Honorary Physician, Wellington Hospital 1912 - 1926
