Born Penrith 30/4/1880    Died Wellington 25/8/1960

Educated at Penrith High School, Edinburgh University

MB ChB (Edin) 1904, MD (Edin) 1917, MRCP (Edin) 1925, FRCP (Edin) 1929, FRACP 1938

Worked as an assistant in a practice in Bury, Lancashire, before obtaining a HP post at the Royal Free Hospital in London

Emigrated to NZ in 1907, settling in Newtown, Wellington, where he developed a busy general practice.   He became consulting physician to the Home of Compassion shortly after his arrival.

Honorary Physician, Wellington Hospital 1912 - 1925

Honorary Cardiologist, Wellington Hospital 1925 - 1940

Enlisted with NZMC, departing for Egypt in June 1915.  Thereafter were spells at Brockenhurst as Officer Commanding No 1 New Zealand General Hospital, to Etaples in France.
ADMS 1929 - 1934; At beginning of WW2, appointed DGMS (army and air)
