Educated at Cheltenham Ladies' College, then at a Girls' High School, Dulwich, north London.
Returned to Sydney in 1881, attending Abbotsleigh Girls' School, then Sydney Girls' High School
At Sydney University completed a BSc in geology and biology

First female to graduate with honours in science

served with the French Red Cross, then with NZMC
