Roy Towers worked at Wellington Hospital in various administrative roles from 1941 to 1983.   He carefully collected & preserved a wealth of historical information relating to the Public Hospital in Wellington, and much of this is now lodged in an Archives New Zealand collection which bears his name.

This Evening Post photograph was taken at the time of the launch in 1976 of the book 'Wellington Hospital 1847 - 1976', written by Laurie Barber & Roy Towers.
Roy is seen studying the plans of the original Newtown Hospital, designed by C Julius Toxward.
