In the mid 1940s, there was concern about the still increasing number of patients with
pulmonary tuberculosis. The facilities at Ewart Hospital were stretched.
Eventually, after various planning proposals, a new 6-storey chest hospital was designed.
It had its own Xray facility.
The new Seddon Wing was situated to the east of the main hospital, on a site
previously occupied by the original Seddon Ward and shelters.
This aerial photograph was taken in January 1963, and shows the Seddon Wing under construction, immediately to the east of Ward 20 & to the north of the Victoria Wards.
