These pages contain profiles of all medical and dental practitioners who have held senior
staff positions at Wellington Hospital since it first opened on the Newtown site in 1881.
In some
instances, little information has been available to me, but wherever possible, a brief description of the
contributions made to the hospital is included.
In addition, I have attempted to give context to
each appointment by describing the relevant staff structure of the times plus other contemporary
comments of possible interest.
Despite my best efforts, I may have overlooked some who should be included. I welcome any
information that would add to the accuracy and detail of these pages.
An archive such as this is never finished. It is almost complete for staff appointed prior to 1981.
I have had difficulty keeping track of
all of the staff appointed since that time, in part because turnover has significantly increased.
Wherever possible staff appointed in more recent years are at least recognised
by an entry in the 'Staff by appointment category/specialty' section.
