The 16th NZNO Cancer Nurses Section Haematology and Oncology Conference organising committee warmly invites you to be involved in this important event. The Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre (WBCC) have been bestowed the pleasure of organising this next biennial conference, to be held on the 18th and 19th February, 2011.
We have chosen the Wellington Convention Centre as our venue where numerous successful health-related conferences have been held. We hope that those attending will be able to enjoy some of the sights, sounds and tastes of Wellington from this central location.
A lot of innovative work is going on throughout primary health care and the cancer and haematology treatment centres in New Zealand. We believe that this work should be recognised and most importantly shared.
Our theme is to encourage working towards a common goal of providing best possible patient outcomes through evidence based practice. We hope that with this collaboration we will enable our centres to function efficiently, safely and compassionately for an increasing treatment population. We would also like to focus on preventative care and minimising the effect of disparities amongst the cancer population.
Our team from WBCC consists of nurse specialists, educators, unit co-ordinators, an associate charge nurse manager, community cancer nurses and we have enlisted the help of a professional conference organiser, Confab Conference and Event Consultants Ltd.
The keynote speakers will be captivating, innovative people, recognised within their field with a vast amount of knowledge and experience in oncology/haematology and the health care arena within New Zealand. Different skills, approaches and innovative ideas which are improving outcomes for cancer patients will be presented.
Topics we hope to include are:
