Day Procedures, Peri-operative and Preassessment units
The Day Procedures (DPU), Peri-operative (POU) and Pre-Assessment units (PA) provide secondary and tertiary, elective and arranged services to a wide range of patients from most specialties.
The services are surgical and medical, diagnostic and therapeutic.
Patients are admitted to POU and DPU as both day patients and in-patients. Those coming through PA are outpatients. A small number of acutes are also admitted to POU prior to transfer to Theatre – these are mainly Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic patients with the occasional General Surgery.
