Services are provided both in the community and in our hospitals and include:-

Pacific Support Service
The Pacific Support Service supports all Pacific patients (and their families) during their stay at our Hospitals. They can:

  • Act as a patient advocate
  • Help patients understand their care and treatment
  • Provide health information
  • Provide information on community and social support
  • services
  • Link patients with community providers

Maninoa Community Care Trust Inc.
Welcome to Maninoa Community Care Trust Incorporated. We are a community-based Mental Health service provider organisation and located in the Porirua City . We care for service users from the wider Wellington region and referred to us by the Capital and Coast Health DHB’s Community Mental Health Team, Health Pasifika and the Forensic Community Service in conjunction with the Services Coordination Service.

Our purpose is to assist service users with their mental health illness in their journey for recovery and become as independent as possible. So our function is the rehabilitation of service users back into the community. The service delivery is underpinned by Pacific culturally appropriate practices and values. We also provide a crisis respite and planned respite services specifically for Pacific mental health service users.

We are passionate about our work and committed to what is required of us under the National Mental Health Standards Guidelines, Health and Disability Sector Standards and other relevant legislated Standards, Acts and Regulations. It is our intention to provide high quality consumer oriented and recovery focused service for all service users residing with us. We accommodate a diverse client base including Papalagi, Māori and Pacific peoples and others.

Our values as a service based on Pacific beliefs provides a solid foundation upholding your rights under the guidance of Mental Health Standards – Disability Act 2000. In order for us to provide you with the best care treatment possible, we need all service users’ co-operation. Service users and their families will be encouraged to take an active role in their treatment and care planning and equally important they will be asked to give consent of any treatment proposed.

In this type of work, it is necessary for any care giver organisation like Maninoa to collect information about all its clients. This helps the organisation understands more about you, enabling appropriate quality service provision in meeting the service users’ needs as identified in the care plan. Maninoa is obliged to explain to you why we are collecting this information, which the information will be passed to, including your rights regarding your information.

Vakaola Pacific Community Health Inc.
Vakaola provides culturally appropriate support for Pacific people affected by mental illness through integrated, ethnic-specific mental health services. Vakaola is governed by Board of Pacific community representatives covering five Pacific nations: Cook Islands, Niue , Samoa, Tonga, and Toea. The staff of Vakaola is also representative of these Pacific nations. Vakaola has offices located in the Porirua City and the Lower Hutt city. Phone: (04) 237 7759.

Pacific Health Services Wellington Incorporated
Pacific Health Services Wellington is an incorporated society, established to delivery primary health care services to the Pacific community in the Wellington region. Pacific Health Services Wellington provides two main services: a general practitioner medical centre based in Strathmore and a mobile nursing and community service. The organisation is governed by a Board of seven trustees who represent various Pacific communities. Pacific Health Services Wellington is managed by a Service Manager and 9 staff including nurses, a GP, community workers and support staff. Pacific Health Service Porirua
Based in the heart of Cannons Creek, Porirua, this community-based Pacific Primary Healthcare Service works with Pacific families within the Porirua area. The service is delivered by multi disciplinary primary care team of Registered Nurses and Community Health Workers. The services are based on Pacific Family Models of Care which include facilitation of access to primary general medical services. Services are provided in a range of settings including: church halls, schools, Pacific language nests and private homes where appropriate. Phone: (04) 237 9824.

Taeomanino Trust
“Creating a better Future for Pacific peoples”

Taeaomanino Trust was established in 1993 as a Charitable Trust to service and support the social, health and education needs of the Pacific population of Porirua. The Trust was the first Pacific provider and the only to be established in the Wellington region. Today the Trust has 25 Pacific staff.

The offices for Taeaomanino Trust is based in central Porirua city.
