Visiting international expert in schizophrenia to give open lecture  

Capital & Coast DHB is pleased to be hosting Professor Vaughan Carr, international expert in schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, as this year’s visiting Chad Buckle Fellow.

Vaughan Carr has been Professor in the School of Psychiatry at the University of New South Wales since 2009, and CEO and Scientific Director of the Schizophrenia Research Institute since 2004.

Prof Carr, who will be here next week, will hold an evening lecture that will be open to members of the public. The lecture, titled Research into Psychosis:  Informing Mental Health Public Policy’, will present information from the recently conducted Australian national survey of psychosis, an epidemiological study across five Australian states involving 1825 participants. The findings can be used to inform policy developments and contribute to the reform of mental health services.
