Solid progress on new Wellington Regional Hospital

Solid progress continues to be achieved on the massive new Wellington Regional Hospital building in Newtown - and that was on display to staff and their families during a special sneak preview recently.

The public will have a chance to tour the new building early in 2009 – with an Open Day scheduled to coincide with the Newtown Festival. However a few select areas were opened up to staff and their immediate families on Sunday October 19 – to give them a flavour of where they will be working.

We are pleased to share some images from the day:

Old framed by the new

The old framed by the new: the old Front Block arches are framed through a window by equipment towers in the new Intensive Care Unit.

A Busy Atrium

The atrium was abuzz with staff and family members.

Guided Tour in Theatres

People taking the self guided tour were treated to a number of mocked-up treatment areas - including this one in Theatres.

NICU incubator

Another display - this one in the new NICU - showed a cot space with incubator.

Steady flow of poeple on the guided tour

A steady flow of people went on the self-guided tour through parts of the new hospital building.

An ICU Bed

An ICU bed in the new hospital – in this instance the patient is a dummy.
