New Clinical Director for Medicine brings wealth of experience, expertise
The CEO of Capital & Coast DHB, Dr Derek Milne, has today welcomed the appointment of a new Clinical Director for one of the DHB's largest areas - Medical Services.
The Clinical Director's role will be filled by Dr Andrew Brant, an internal and respiratory medicine specialist with experience at Wellington Hospital and overseas.
"It's excellent news that we've secured the services of such a capable and dedicated clinician for this vital role," Dr Milne said.
Medical services at the DHB encompass eight departments, including Internal Medicine, Renal, Cardiology and Respiratory.
"Dr Brant has been working at our hospital, and at the Wellington School of Medicine for the past two years. Prior to that he worked at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, and at Greenlane Hospital in Auckland.
"He's a doctor in both senses of the word, since on top of his medical qualifications he also has a PhD - which he earned at Imperial College in London.
"He also holds an MBA from Cambridge University.
"He's well qualified for this role and we wish him all the best as he rises to this important challenge," Dr Milne said.
