Using Your Own Style Sheets In Opera 8 For OS X

This page explains how to make Opera 8 use colour and font styles you have created in your own style sheet.

Note: Mac key convention: 'Ctrl' is used for 'Control', 'Apple' is used for 'Command' and 'Alt' is used for the 'Option' key.

Note: For keyboard access make sure 'Full keyboard access' is turned on - you can turn it on or off; by pressing 'Ctrl' + 'F1' at any time

Instructions

Please note: This page assumes you have already created your own style sheet.

  1. Click on the 'Opera' menu and then click on 'Preferences...' as shown in Fig 1 or press 'Apple' + ',' (comma).

  2. Click on the 'Advanced' tab or press 'Alt' + 'Tab' to highlight it (see Fig 2 ).
  3. Click on 'Content' or use the up and down arrow to selected it (see Fig 2).
  4. Click on the 'Style Options' button or press 'Tab' until it is highlighted and press the 'Spacebar' as highlighted in Fig 2.

  5. Make sure the 'Page style sheets' checkboxes under both the 'Author mode' and 'User mode' are unchecked by clicking on them or press 'Tab' until the checkbox in the 'Author mode' column is selected and press the 'Spacebar' to uncheck the box, repeat for 'User mode'. (See Fig 3 ).
  6. Make sure the 'My style sheet' checkboxes under both the 'Author mode' and 'User mode' are checked by clicking on them (have a tick in them) or press 'Tab' until the checkbox in the 'Author mode' column is selected and press the 'Spacebar' to check the box, repeat for 'User mode'. (See Fig 3 )

  7. Under 'My Style sheet' at the bottom of the page click on the 'Choose' button or press 'Tab' until it is highlighted and press the 'Spacebar', as shown in Fig 3 above.
  8. Navigate to where you have put your style sheet.
  9. Select the style sheet you want by clicking on it or using the arrows keys to highlight it and then click on the 'Choose' button or press 'Enter'.
  10. Click 'OK' twice or press 'Enter' twice to return to Opera.

Note: If this does not work it could be because your computer settings cannot be changed due to local IT policies - contact your local IT support for further help.
