Using Your Own Style Sheets in Internet Explorer For OS X

This page explains how to make Internet Explorer use colour and font styles you have created in your own style sheet.

Note: Mac key convention: 'Ctrl' is used for 'Control', 'Apple' is used for 'Command' and 'Alt' is used for the 'Option' key.

Note: For keyboard access make sure 'Full keyboard access' is turned on - you can turn it on or off; by pressing 'Ctrl' + 'F1' at any time.

Instructions

Please note: This page assumes you have already created your own style sheet.

  1. Click on 'Explorer' menu with the mouse and then then click on 'Preferences' or press 'Apple' + ';'. (see Fig 1, below)

  2. If you cannot see a list of bulleted options under 'Web Browser' click the arrow next to 'Web Browser' to expand the options list as shown in Fig 2 or highlight 'Web Browser' using the up arrow and then press 'Apple' + 'Right arrow' key to expand the options.
  3. Select the 'Web Content' section with the mouse or by pressing the down arrow until it is highlighted. (See Fig 2 below).

  4. Under the 'Show style sheets' checkbox which should be checked as highlighted in 'Fig 2' there is another checkbox called 'Use my style sheet' make sure it is selected by clicking on it with the mouse as shown in Fig 2 (no keyboard shortcut).
  5. Click the button called 'Select Style Sheet' below the checkbox 'Use my style sheet', this will bring up a file dialog box as shown in Fig 3 (no keyboard shortcut).

  6. Next navigate to the folder where you have your style sheet file and select it.
  7. Click on 'Open' or press 'Enter' to return to 'Preferences'.
  8. Click 'OK' or press 'Enter' to return to Internet Explorer.

Note: If this does not work it could be because your computer settings cannot be changed due to local IT policies - contact your local IT support for further help.
